ombudsman gets physical at the Vitality show

Consumer research shows that women are less aware of the Financial Ombudsman Service – and complain less to the service – than men.

To help raise awareness – especially among younger women – of the ombudsman service's impartial role in settling financial disputes, we took part in this year's Vitality heath, beauty and well-being consumer-show at London Olympia. This followed our earlier involvement in the Glow beauty and vitality show that took place in Belfast.

We launched a new range of information and publicity materials at these events – aimed to appeal specifically to younger women, and to highlight the role and relevance of the ombudsman service.

We have also run awareness-raising campaigns in selected magazines:

This initiative is part of the outreach work that the ombudsman service carries out with groups of consumers who show lower levels of awareness of their consumer rights (including their right to use the ombudsman) – such as younger people, people with disabilities and Asian consumers.
